Method

A well-scoped project moves twice as fast.

Here is how a project runs with me, from the first call to going live. What you get at each step, what I expect from you, and what I do not do.

01, the first call

Twenty minutes to know whether we should work together

We talk on the phone or on video. You tell me about your business and what you want to achieve. I ask the basic questions: who for, by when, with what.

By the end of the call, you know whether your project is for me. If it is not, I say so, and if I know someone better placed, I point you to them.

Worth preparing, if you can

  • Your current site, if there is one, and what is wrong with it
  • Two or three sites you like, even from another line of work
  • A date if you have one in mind
  • A rough budget, even approximate

None of this is required. We can start from a simple idea.

02, scoping

Every question, once

After the call, I send you an interactive questionnaire, prepared for your project. You answer by clicking, at your own pace, and everything is saved as you go.

It covers everything that could block us later: who the site is for, content, features, access, constraints. Once it is filled in, I do not need to chase you for weeks. That is what lets me hold the deadlines.

03, the steps

What you get at each step

No compulsory weekly meeting. You check where your project stands whenever you like, and I tell you each time a step is done.

  1. Step 1

    The quote

A fixed price, a scope written out line by line, a stated deadline. Whatever is not in the quote is not invoiced without your agreement.

You receiveA detailed quoteTo sign before we start
  2. Step 2

    The mockups

You see your site before a line of code is written. This is the moment to adjust: at this stage, any change is simple and costs nothing extra.

You receiveMockups to approveDesktop and phone
  3. Step 3

    The build

I build your site on a private copy, open to you alone. You watch it take shape, and you leave your remarks straight on the page.

You receiveAccess to the staging copyWith a tool to annotate the page
  4. Step 4

    Going live

Once everything is approved, I publish the site on your own domain. The accounts are in your name, the site is yours.

You receiveThe accounts and documentationAnd a handover with your team
  5. Step 5

    The following 30 days

If something does not work the way the quote said it would, I fix it. After that, maintenance takes over if you want it.

    You receiveDefects fixedFor 30 days

04, on your side

What makes a project move, or drag

What I expect from you

  • One person to talk to who can decide, to avoid going back and forth
  • Your text and your photos, or the time to produce them together
  • Feedback in one go at each step, rather than a trickle
  • Access to your hosting and your domain name

What I do not do

  • Work I find unethical, whatever the fee
  • Projects that need a whole team: if your site needs a designer, a copywriter and a photographer on top of the development, an agency will serve you better

I would rather tell you on the first call than let you find out halfway through.

Next step

Shall we start with a twenty-minute call?

Free, no strings attached. You will know straight away whether your project is for me.
